Solaie by AIE

Add-in for Autodesk Revit 2027 · beta

A sun ruler for Revit.Sunlight checks for § 60, without guesswork.

Solaie is an automatic sun ruler: it computes sunlight hours for every room under § 60 of the Polish technical conditions, shows whether the verdict depends on how the rule is read, and assembles a report for the project documentation.

Revit: model budynku z oknami pokolorowanymi według werdyktu i linijkami słońca w 3D, obok panel wyników Solaie z liczbą okien spełniających i niespełniających wymogu
A real analysis in Revit 2027: windows coloured by verdict, sun rulers in 3D and the results pane.

From a real project

A multi-family building, several hundred windows, neighbouring volumes as obstacles. This is how the rulers look in the model, and one window's page in the report.

See it on an example

A four-storey building in Warsaw, facing south-east, with a 25 m block across the street. The plan and elevation below are computed live in your browser: the sun's position every minute on both equinoxes, a ray from every window, four readings of the rule.

Elevation of the analysed facade · colour: verdict, number: reading D

pass depends on reading fail · outline: window in sun at the chosen time

Plan with the sun ruler · rays every 10 min, numbers are hours

Sample model: plain masses, measurement point in the facade plane, no reveal depth. The add-in works on the geometry of your Revit model.

Same room, two answers.

§ 60 says how many hours of sun a room must get, but not at which point of the window to measure them, nor whether interrupted periods may be added up. Two careful designers can reach different results, and the disagreement is settled only by the authority or a court.

Continuous, window centre 2 h 50 min fails
Summed, window edge 3 h 25 min passes

Illustrative example. Solaie does not pick a reading for you: it shows which rooms are safe under every reading, and which are worth fixing before the authority asks.

What the beta does

1

Both equinoxes of the project year

The actual equinox dates, spring and autumn separately, in official time. The report shows the worse day.

2

Rooms, not façades

Living rooms from the Revit model, with the one-room rule for multi-room dwellings and the 1.5 h threshold for city-centre development.

3

An interpretation-robustness verdict

Every room computed under several defensible readings of the rule. Rooms whose result changes are flagged.

4

A report anyone can recheck

Inputs, angles, and sun entry and exit times on one page per room, so an official can recompute the result without the software.

Looking for five offices to test it

  • You get: a free licence for the duration of the beta, and a say in how the report looks.
  • I ask for: a 30-minute call and one sunlight analysis from a real project, so the results can be compared.
  • Requirements: Revit 2027, residential projects.
